Can I Question God and Still Have Faith?

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

It's normal to have questions about God. Sometimes taking faith and the questions it poses seriously means struggling with faith. And sometimes it causes you to have doubts. But as long as there's a "mustard seed" of belief left in you, you have not lost your faith.

Doubt vs Possibilities

Whether we’re struggling with doubt -or just wrestling with our circumstances- the path to confidence is in studying the solid evidence of the Christian faith found in the Word of God and the other evidence that our God is at work in our lives just as he was in the heroes of the faith.

Just ask good questions and diligently seek true answers. When we read about heroes of the faith, we find they had ups and downs in their faith just as we do..

Trusting God can be easier said than done. We often say that we trust Him, yet when it’s time to put that trust into action, we fall short.

We may find ourselves stressing about circumstances outside of our control. Or maybe we shy away from following God where He’s leading because we fear the unknown. Or, we might be totally consumed by anxieties over our finances, our health, and our future plans.

But these are not the characteristics of people who have confident trust in the Lord.

What does this say to those around us who don’t know God? That the God in whom we’ve put our hope – the God who created the entire universe – is somehow not worthy of our trust when it comes to the everyday details of our lives?

It’s time to stand firm in the Lord, giving Him every ounce of trust, we have!

We know we can trust God because He’s provided for us time and time again, and because He promises to be with us in the hard times. In the good and the bad, God is faithful to us and able to care for us. Read on to explore these truths and to find Bible verses about trusting God.

“Be Bold”

A Bold Move is Trusting God to Provide

When faced with the temptation to trust in something other than God, we must remember that He alone is our provider. He always has been, and He always will be.

Think back to times when God provided for you – when you needed strength to endure a difficult experience, or when He brought the perfect opportunity at just the right moment.

Even in ways that we haven’t recognized, God has always provided for us. And because He is unchanging, His faithfulness will never falter. This means that just as He’s provided for us in the past, He will continue to do so in the future.

Even in hard times, He is with us. We can find rest and peace in the fact that He will never leave nor forsake us. And we can look forward to the future, when the promise of eternal salvation for those who trust in Him is fulfilled!

Because of these things, we can confidently trust in the Lord our God. As Isaiah 26:3 says, The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.”
